how long does it all take?

    Advertisements
Df and I decided to have a full blown wedding instead of a JOP wedding. We also decided to change the date from Feb. to May 15. The only thing I'm worried about is that we want to get me signed up and squared away for everything so that I can move by the end of June to wherever he will be living.

My question is, how long does it take to sign up for everything and get the information in to have me move on base( or off still haven't decided)? I want to be able to move mid June since my lease is up on June 30th and I want to be gone before that.

    Thanks in advace

To get you in the system shouldn't take but a day or two. All that really is him going and getting you in deers and getting you an ID card. What can take time (as little as two weeks but if there are paperwork screwups or other stuff several months) is getting BAH.

Are you planning on moving yourself? Because if you get married in May you won't be on his orders so the military won't move you.

Yea, we are only allowing ourselves about $6,000 for the wedding so I have the $2,000+ I will need to move all my stuff to wherever he's stationed. The BAH is what I'm mostly worried about though because we will need that so we are able to get a place to live since all of my money that I would put into a security deposit and first few months rent until I find a job will be going into the initial move.

Getting into the system is different then acutally getting paid your BAH. It SHOULD take no more then 2ish weeks for it to show up, but people have waited months before it shows up in their paychecks.

Just need to make sure he stays on top of the finance people so it gets in!

That's so exciting. We just decided that date last week out of nowhere. We were trying to find a date long enough from now that we have time to plan everything and get notice to my family members that live down south, but soon enough that I am able to move middle to end of June without major worry.

DH and I were married recently and one week later I had everything. My ID, Deers, TriCare, and BAH showing on his statements (online) but he is going oversees so maybe that made a difference.. or we just got lucky. However we are still trying to figure out the moving situation for ourselves because I'm staying here until I graduate in April. :/
