    Advertisements
I am a dependent, my husband is active air force and we live overseas. i know i'm automatically covered for medical with tricare (birth control, appointments, etc.) but am i automatically covered for dental as well?

And are eye appointments covered? Contacts or just glasses?

Dental is covered through the TricareDentalProgram.com and you have to register. We pay $12 a month, Hubby is an E5 and only me as a dependent.

Eye care is included with Tricare with what you have now. But contacts and glasses you'll have to pay for out of pocket. They only cover the eye exam. You'll have to pay for the contact exam out of pocket as well.

It could be different though since you're overseas.. I know this is how it works CONUS.

My understanding is that you go on base for dental and optometry as well. They give you glasses and a script for contacts which you fill yourself.

This is the way it was when I was stationed in Okinawa other bases my be different.

Dental requires enrollment.: TRICARE DENTAL PROGRAM - UNITED CONCORDIA - ENROLLEES - ENROLLMENT/DISENROLLMENT - ACTIVE DUTY FAMILY MEMBERS - HOW TO ENROLL

Optometry is covered under Tricare. Tricare does not cover glasses or contacts. They only cover the exam. Under certain circumstances does Tricare cover glasses and contacts. Glasses and Contacts

If you are already overseas you are most likely already enrolled in United Concordia...

However...you will get everything done at the base dental clinic for free.

When we were in England you only got one cleaning a year. I also got a root canal, crown and my wisdom extracted at no charge.

A lot of people do not realize while they are overseas that they will continue to be charged for the dental insurance unless you cancel it.

Yes, you are covered for both.

I have had dental work done...free of charge (I've had exams, one cleaning and a filling)

I've also seen an eye doctor to have an eye test and when I had an eye infection he looked at it, and gave me meds. If you need to see someone, ask for Court Wilkins he is a family friend and a great doctor
