    Help mental illness

    Advertisements
Hey everyone.. so my DB is moving to Texas and his mother has a mental illness and has been removed from where she was living. So does anyone know what mental health facilities there are in texas that the military has. Or has anyone else been in this situation??

His mother would need to go to a nonmilitary mental facility unless he has taken her on as a dependent. I'm not sure of ones in texas though.

I'm not sure how all of that works. What kind of mental illness does she have,if you don't mind me asking.

I don't know the exact process, but I do know it won't be simple to have his mom as dependent. He'll have to show he's paying a certain percentage for supporting her. I hope someone can shed some light on it, because I know it's not easy.

if he does, then she may have to go to the closest MTF facility or go through a civilian facility that Tricare accepts. But until he gets her on as a dependent they may not touch her.

She's not a veteran of prior service is she? If so she could probably go through the VA.

Has she been declared incompetent by the state? Where she HAS to be a dependent of someone? Unless that happens the military won't accept her as his dependent. And once he takes her on (if allowed) if she is extremely bad off it will limit where he is allowed to be stationed.

Dependent parents may only receive care at an MTF on a space-available basis.

You can find the Army Secondary Dependency Determination Guide here: Army Secondary Dependency Determination
