So DH mailed me some stuff from basic about getting my military ID and health care started.

Well on the paperwork for my ID it says "Bring form and SSAN"

    Whats SSAN stand for?

It's your social security number. I hate it when they put the A in there. It stands for "account" I think.

To be on the safe side bring your marriage certificate, birth certificate, divorce papers if previously married, you Power of Attorney if you have one and his orders if you have a copy of those.

Better to have it and not need it than not.

Okay Social was the only thing I could think of... But I was like WTF!

Then on the form I was looking where it said my husbands social that was right it had the - in between the numbers and all then I looked at mine... and it wasnt even close to my social number and it didnt have dashes in between the correct number of numbers and it had a D at the end which i'm assuming means dependent. But DH took a copy of my social security card so why would that number be different? I'm confused! lol

That is what our website at Macdill says all new spouses have to bring with them.

Yes, make sure you have all of the stuff Solstice mentioned, but SSAN is your social.

here is the SSA site FAQ about the letters behind SSN
Meaning of the letters after a Social Security or Medicare number.

and the D should have nothing legal to do with the military... they may think they are above the law but they do not have the abaility to change ones SSN, which is why in the government computers they add the 30/ 33/ and so on before SSN. LoL always have to be diffrent.
