Have you ever heard of this?

So we went to dinner last night with a group and this one dude brought up something he called Spouse SGLI. I have always known this to be the spouses life insurance as in the one married to the active duty member. He claims that when an active duty military member is killed the spouse receives their pay check till they get re married. I have literally never heard of this ever and I wanted to tell him he was nuts Not to mention it doesn't even make sense.

How interesting. So if a spouse never re marries they can continue to collect a pay check every two weeks for the rest of their life?

Never heard of that. What would happen if the spouse NEVER got remarried? Spouse SGLI is just life insurance.

I think it's just the base pay. When "Newbeginnings" was still around she had mentioned about getting her husband's pay even though at the time she had not gotten the SGLI, it went to his parents. I am reading the death benfits handbook right now.

I believe it's only for the rest of their contract... and I'm prettyyyyy sure it has a cap amount. I could be totally wrong.
