    BAH question

    Advertisements
I don't know if anyone else has ever been in this situation..

DH is deployed now... our current duty station is in England. We got married in the middle of his time there so we were trying to get command sponsored. Well we never were able to get command sponsored but I stayed anyway up until last month when he got deployed.

Since i'm not command sponsored, are we allowed to get BAH since I'm staying in Georgia right now?

DH hasn't even asked about it but I want to know. TIA!

Yes...you should get BAH for where you are right now while he is gone...

    I think so anyways...

Since DH's duty station is England and he is married , he will get his BH according to England rates which will be better for you since it's 10 times higher than Georgia. If you have any questions pm me, me and DF are both in the military.
They give you BAH according to where the member is stationed and you can see it on his LES

But I thought during deployments that if the wife goes to the states that she gets BAH for that area...

Someone told us that because I was never command sponsored in England that the Air Force doesn't recognize us as married. That makes no sense though!

You have a marriage certificate , you are married under the military's eyes.

England is OCONUS, so BAH does not apply, OHA does. OHA is based on actual rent, you have to show a lease, so you can't use England OHA to pay for housing in GA.

no, if you're still on his page two, then yes he's married and you're a dependent. As for BAH, it can either be for GA or England.
