    waivers

    Advertisements
I had no idea where to put this, lol

I have been stressing over this stupid dependency waiver for a week. He's already being processed, taken his ASVAB and then came back home because we haven't heard back about the waiver. Now he's back at the MEPS center again, waiting waiting waiting...
Anyone have any idea what the odds are of the army accepting a dependency waiver for 4 or more?

the stupid part is, the recruiter was more worried about his tattoo on his hand. That came back in like 3 hours.
Sigh. Thanks. I've been so stressed about this. I feel so bad for my guy too, he worked overnight and then they picked him up after work at 7am. He's been there ever since

I'm not sure about the Army but I heard from my husband's friend that is a recruiter, that they are not letting anyone join that has over 2 dependents, this is the Marine Corps though. I have no idea about the Army.

You should be fine in the Army. If he meets all of the qualifications then I would say it's a 60/40 chance.

well. It's bad news for us. Apparently unless he can get in as E2 we're done. Most likely, we're done with the military idea.r

They don't let people in with that many dependents because the military doesn't think such a small salary can afford so many dependents.

even though our current salary is smaller.

He's only high school grad. They want him to go to school for a while and then come back. He scored well on the ASVAB. He was going in as an E1 because he had nothing to bump him up. On an E2 it would be enough for us to be okay. What bums me out is that I got a job during the process, but they said that didn't matter.
Apparently right now the dependency waiver is tough to get approved, but like all things military that can change. Honestly, I'm not sure what we'll do.

It sucks but they are getting really strict now. They just don't need that many people anymore.
