I know that we get a bonus for joining the army and I know that you get it after you complete basic and ait....but after do that do you get that bonus as one lump sum or is it given to us over an allotted amount of time? I'm just curious since that money will be paying for a lot of our wedding. Thanks!

My husbands bonus was all up front...we paid taxes on it, but then got a lump sum...no allotments. He's army too, but it was a reenlistment bonus and I don't know if they do bonuses differently when you first join.

DH got his bonus about a month after checking in to his first unit and yes the Army will pay for your move. |

For DH when he joined I don't know if he got a bonus since we weren't married. When he reenlisted the first time he got half when he signed and the other half was split up over the next 4 years (they don't give you a portion the last year you are in, just in case you don't reenlist again as when you would be getting the portion is when you would have to be reenlisted again).
My hubby is AF though. |
