GI bill reimbursement...how long? - Military Benefits

if you or your SO applied for the GI bill after paying for school...how long did it take for you to get your reimbursement?

I didn't know you could do it that way, I thought you had to do everything before starting the course or while doing the course

otherwise some people may try and get reimbursed for a course they did x years ago or even at the begining of the year and I assumed it was to further your education.

DH applied back in August... and we still haven't seen any money. If we hadn't both found jobs since then we'd be seriously in trouble - we were counting on that money. As it is, his whole tuition / books had to go on his credit card - lameeee.

Edit: I misread the OP, he applied before school started, had to make sure the program was approved or something?

you're right, he is taking the courses now. we applied for it back in early sept, but tuition was due in Aug, so we paid it out of pocket.

We just got part of ours Saturday, I think. They're really backed up so they're fronting $3k checks right now.

They are still back logged but they started a special program to help people get paid faster. I had posted the news story on here. Let me find it

my bestest just started getting her monies this month (or last) and she applied in spring. They have so many kinks to work out in the post 9/11 gi bill it is causing a serious back up..

She can't have applied for the post 9/11 GI Bill in spring since that didn't start until August 1st.
