How does Tricare Prime work in Germany?
Ok so we just got command sponsership approved and DH enrolled me into Tricare Prime. How does that work now? I have a german OB/GYN who i already asked takes tricare patients. Do i need some kind of referral form? How about the kids, do i need a referral form every time i see the doc with them? What about emergencies? I am cancelling my german health insurance since i pay about 200$ every month for it and i dont need it now...

If you are prime, and there is a base clinic, you will be assigned a dr on base. That is who you will see.
If there isn't a base clinic, they have a list of providers downtown that you can see. Here is a link to what happens. http://tricare.mil/mybenefit/Profile...rseas&x=24&y=9

Also, when I was working in Germany (I am German as well) I was not able to cancel my German insurance. If you work, you have to have insurance. Unless you have private insurance at this point. But if you are with Barmer or somebody like that, you won't be able to just get out of it.

Okay i got it all sorted out today...i just got off the phone with tricare. I can keep seeing my german ob/gyn, my doc on base put in a referral for me. I just always have to call to get a referral to see anyone off base. The prescriptions get filled at the local pharmacy off base and then we take the bill in to tricare and get reimbursed...
