Hey ladies, I have a question regarding the sign on bonus. My husband enlisted april 2008, but got his first lump of the sign on bonus when we got here to his unit and he turned in the paperwork. I'm pretty sure he got it around the 2nd week of November last year...is that when we can expect it again this year? I just checked the LES and it's not on there. Just wondering when we can expect the money, thanks!

Hmm, ok I'm hoping we get it next month. We didn't get anything in April but he had just got the first payment in November. He can't go to finance to ask, he's deployed.

It is usually on the anniversary of enlistment. The first payment would be when he first got a duty station yes but every installment after is on enlistment anniversary. For example my husband got to his (Final) duty Station in Germany in January - about three weeks after papers were filed he received his first payment - his next payment is not until May, his enlistment contract date. He joined May 2008, first payment third week of January 2009, second payment is scheduled for May 2010.

My DH left in Jan 09, he just got to his first unit this month and we just got the first installment and according to DFAS the next one is set in the system to be paid in Dec 09 which would probably give them time to process it in time for his anniversary date.
That tells me that you should have gotten one in April, so he needs to double check on it with the finance office or you can have him call the toll free DFAS phone number. If you have POA you should be able to call on his behalf. I just found the phone number on the DFAS website for military pay questions: For Military Pay customer service, contact 1-888-332-7411. |
