Bank problem? Ever happened to you? - Military Benefits

Okay so I got a call from DH today and he told me that he got paid on the first but what happened is that when he was processing they wouldn't let him give them his USAA direct deposit slip so he had to sign with Navy Federal Credit Union (is that right?) anyway he got it fixed and changed his direct deposit to our correct USAA checking account but it was too late for pay day on the first. I guess the money went to NFCU...he sent me the information to deal with it but it hasn't arrived in the mail yet.
Has this ever happened to anyone? If so, when should the pay from the 1st be put in our USAA account? Would it just stay in NFCU until the 15th and then go with the rest of the 15th's pay to USAA?

It's probably sitting in an account with Navy Fed and will stay there till you take it out.

When dh was in boot they only let him set it up with Navy Fed or another bank (I don't remember which one) do you have POA? If you do you can go up to Navy Fed and get the info for the account. That is what I did.

The money is going to sit in the Navy Fed account until you transfer it. Now that he got his pay fixed it should go to USAA on the 15th but it will not affect what you have already been paid.

If you have POA, you could just go take it out. That's what I'd do.

I don't have POA...i don't even know how to get one lol DH is still in bootcamp and haven't had time to discuss it yet...can I get one with out him?

Maybe if there is a legal office there that he can get one and mail it to you.

But you cannot get one without him. That would sorta defeat the purpose. He has to grant you power of attorney, thus he has to get it for you.

If the paperwork was done in time next pay will go to USAA, and if not than the next one will. But Navy fed nor the military will automatically just transfer the money over to a different bank. You will have to do a money transfer if you want your money in your USAA account.

I am guessing you are going to have to get your money from the navy fed account as needed.

No you can not do it without him. He will have to go to legal (he might have to ask when he would have time to do that). The reason you can't do it is because it is him granting you permission to do things for him in his name. And without the POA, you won't have access to the Navy fed account either.
