Army on base housing
My husband goes to basic in january. He is going into the infantry. Hoping to go airborne. I was wondering what the chances are of us getting on base housing? How will we go about trying to get it? I am COMPLETELY new to this so I have no idea what to do. I know there is little I can do right now but I want to learn as much as possible.

Depends on your base. Once you get your duty station orders it will be a LOT easier to answer.
But it depends on the base. Some have no wait list, some have 18 month wait list. It depends on how many dependents you have, rank, and all of that. |

Well, I guess in a very round about way...as MOS matters as to where you are stationed..but if you go to say, Ft Bragg and you are Infantry I believe your housing is the same if your mos was clerical or something like that.

If his orders authorize dependants to move you can live in housing during AIT. If not you will have to wait untill his first duty station. Once you get your orders you can call housing and they should be able to give you a general idea on the waitlist for his rank and dependants.
