GI Bill to buy a computer?

Hey Ladies,

My husband is going on line with AMU and were not using our GI Bill bc he is active duty...but it would be wonderful if we could get a new lap top.

Could we dip into the GI Bill just for the cost of a new lap top?

If no do you know of any scholarship that we could apply for so we would not have to foot the bill?

you cannot dip into the GI bill- and I do not know of any scholarships that pay for computers.

the best bet is to try to get a best buy card and get the computer and then pay off the card- that is what my DS had to do.

Nope can't dip into the GI bill..we just bought a computer from best buy we have a 18 month NO interest on it as well

LOL this is exactly what DS did- he has been paying big chucks of it every month so he can get it payed off-

his computer was like 2800 dollars!!!

I just got a laptop for 750 on sale at best buy!

Not to be harsh, but internet is a luxury and not one that everyone can afford (even those in the military) so if anyone wants a computer it should be their responsibility to pay for it and not get gov't funds to buy one.

For those who really want to be online and can't afford a computer the base libraries generally have computers free to use.

I agree..It's not the government or the military's job to buy you guys a new laptop. The GI bill, wether you're using it or not, and other scholorships are out there for a reason, to help pay for school. Not you're computer

Not offended at all..I found a grant that will give us some money actually. My argument is most active duty guys/ gals have to go on line and I would think grants / funds would be more readily available for them for computers.(AMU is solely on line)..I rather not dip into savings if their is money out their for him.
* When they started letting Military(Army that I know of) go to school for free as long as your active school's were giving out laptops.
