Bonus question

DH got a large sign on bonus which is being broken up into 4 installments. He is due to get the first one here in a few weeks since he is now done with AIT.

I have been told 2 different things about when the rest would be paid. I have been told he will get the next one in Jan, on his enlistment date (the day he left for basic). But I have also been told he will have to wait till next year because it is every year on the anniversary of him signing into his unit which would be this time next year. We are trying to plan finances so I am just trying to find out which one is true lol. Is it on the anniversary of their enlistment or on the anniversary of them signing into their first unit after AIT?

I don't know for sure how the army works it, but this is how DH got his reenlistment bonus.

He got the first part (which was half minus taxes lol) when he reenlisted (within a month or so) and than yes, the other half was split equally to be paid on the anniversary of when he signed the reenlistment paperwork. Up until the last year of his enlistment time. He signed up for 6 years so he got one payment (the first half) when he signed. The other half was than split up over the next 4 or 5 years (so he didn't get a payment the 6th year the year he would either have to reenlist again or get out.

When DH reenlisted last time we got it all at once. But he was deployed so idk if that has anything to do with it.

His original enlistment bonus we got over time on his anniversary date.

DH graduated AIT the beginning of last November. His original enlistment date was back in January of 2008. He got a chunk of his bonus after he graduated AIT...which we didn't get till sometime in February. (We were told it would be shortly after AIT that we would get it...ended up taking awhile) and he will be getting the remainder of his bonus spread over the rest of his contract...those portions will be given to him on his enlistment anny. So we should be getting our next sum in January

Ok, you ladies are making me feel better. One of the guys here in our complex that we made friends with said that he had to wait until he had been to his unit for a year so I was getting really worried. No matter how much I search online I can't find a definative answer. DH was under the impression he would get it on his enlistment anniversary, but I just wanted to make sure.

Has anyone had to wait till 1 yr after they are done with AIT to get the 2nd part??

Dh always get his bonus installment around Oct 1st, the beginning of the fiscal year, not on his entry anniversary. I don't know if it's just a navy thing...
