Drown Me In Love

Navy Pay
So DF came home from DEP on wednesday night and in his lecture, they learned about paperwork, income, etc. etc.
He said that since we will be married before he starts active duty, (october 26, and we are getting married sept 19) he will make double. Is this true??

However, and this may sound like semantics, but it's important to understand that this isn't "pay," it's allowances. He doesn't get "paid" more because he's married, he collects an allowance. Bottom line- yes, the checks will be substantially larger than that of a single member of the same paygrade. |

He will getting more because of his BAH but you have to take into account that money for BAH is given to you for your rent. But if you live in base housing they take all of the BAH and you won't see that money. but it pay's for your rent and utilities. If you decide to live off base then he will receive that money in his paycheck but you have to make sure it goes to your rent and utilities sometimes depending on where you are stationed the amount they give you versus the cost of living is higher so example say you get stationed in fl and they are giving you 1000 for BAH and average cost of rent is 500 then after your bills are paid you get to "pocket" that leftover money. but the same can happen that they give you 1000 and average cost of living is 1200 so just look into it when you figure out where yall will be stationed.

It's also all published, so you can know precisely what he will make, when and where.
Here are the BAH rates, just enter his rank and zip code of duty station (which I'm assuming you don't know yet, but bookmark it for future use) http://www.defensetravel.dod.mil/perdiem/bah.html and pay rates, this is just one of many, these are everywhere http://www.navycs.com/09militarypaychart.html |
