    is it automatic? or does DH have to apply for it? Can we do it once we get to Hawaii, because his damn AIT unit told him nothing about anything!!

    no it is not automatic and yes you have to apply for it-

    it is not unusual to not get it when coming out of AIT or boot camp ( generally do not get it)

    Ok ok i found it... When you go to that site i just gave you... go to

    Moving and Relocation Home

    then click

    Benefits and Entitlements

    its all under there... but if i understand correctly we have to wait until we get there to apply.

    no i dont think so ladies... you do get it coming out of ait provided that you are moving your household goods and family with you. and they are supposed to give it IN ADVANCE of the move as opposed to all the other stuff that they give you afterwards to repay you for the money you spent like the perdiem, milage etc. anyway... my dh is at AIT right now and its all part of their out processing process... he will need to go to finance and they will help him with that.

    I think it might depend too, because his orders came in just a few days before he left, so he was told by finance he didnt have enough time to apply in advance for it.
