    BAS?

    Advertisements
DH said something about getting BAS when I move to join him at his AIT station. What is BAS and are we entitled to it? His AIT *is* considered a PCS because it's almost a year. Right now he eats on base and I don't think he gets it, but will it be added to the salary? Or is that included in what he gets now? He lives on post but we just got an apartment and will be moving off base.

    Thanks!

It is a little over 300 a month, but the only way that he will get it is if there is no way for him to eat on the ship or at a cafeteria like right now dh is getting it because the cafeteria on the boat is down because they were in the yards but soon he will loose it.

If he turns in his meal card then an extra 250 i believe will be added to his pay in order to feed him.

He said that we'd just get it with him moving off base. So we'd have to turn in the meal card and not eat at the DFAC at all or we don't get it, is that right? He eats breakfast there and probably will continue to do so so if we don't turn in the card we get no BAS even when living off base, is that right?

Okay, I checked his LES and it's already on his statement, he gets it now since he is also getting BAH (I live now in our home state, moving soon to his). So he will continue to get it?

Yeah, he should still get it if he is living off base. But I am pretty sure he won't have a meal card to use any longer.

He can still eat at the chow hall for breakfast if he wants, but he will have to pay for it out of pocket. But it is stupid cheap to eat there.
