    Question Using the GI Bill

    Advertisements
How long does it take to get everything done to start using the GI Bill? If DH gets out mid-October would he be able to start in January?

maybe- with the new rule changes I am not sure how long it will take- DS said with the old bill he got out in JAn and was registered and ready to start for the spring classes.
but then he had to pay inadvance for the tuition anyway and the submitted the claim for reimbursement- not sure how they will do it now that the tuition checks will be paid directly to the school.

I think he can as long as he has been excepted to the college and can get a class schedule- he needs to talk to the finance center at the school he wants to attend-

the only thing I think may throw a wrench is the new BILL is not finalised yet and does not start until Aug, But he maybe able to register under the old bill and then switch after he gets out.

He actually doesn't get out until October 2011. I'm just a BIG planner.

he can ask permission to get out early (Aug/Sept) in order to enroll in school for the Fall Semester. dh is doing that this year and he's supposed to get out in Oct also. once that's approved and as long as he gets accepted to his college, they will let him out in August.

I fall under the old G.I. Bill, but mine only took about 3 months to get rolling.
