quick question about BAH and all that marriage jazz.

Db and I are planning to get married before he leaves on deployment #2. We were going to do a JOP and me plan the wedding while he is gone. My question is I will be living at my parents house while he is gone. Will I still be able to get the BAH for my parents zip code. Or do I have to show them an actual house or place I am living at and paying for??? My dad was in the navy for 27 years and he doesn't think you can do that. DB said you can because he has buddies that do this. Do any of you know?

I think they will have to write you up a lease agreement.

I'm pretty sure you just get BAH for where he's stationed.

yes and it is most likely going to be for where he is stationed. For example, we live outside Hattiesburg, he works in Gulfport. We get Gulfport bah.

It doesn't matter where he says he lives. My husband is stationed at Lejeune, everyone (depending on rank) who is stationed at lejeune gets the same BAH. KWIM?

I have stayed with my parents and gotten BAH and never had to show a lease. We got it for San Diego even though I was in Texas at the time because San Diego was where dh was. Sometimes though they do require a lease but usually when you get married they don't. You can draw up a lease with your parents if need be, they have forms at like Office Depot and it will be honored even if it isn't real as in if you won't be paying rent you can still get it. If the AD member is married and not living in base housing you get BAH regardless of where or who you live with.

this is branch specific= the Army is currently the only branch requiring leases to start Newlywed BAH-

OP- you will need a Lease from your parents, and the BAH will be for where his base is not where you are located in this case.
