I have a disability rating of 30% and Im thinking it should be increased... does anyone know about the process of getting your percentage increased? I dont know why but all this VA stuff is just so out in left field for me, its confusing!

I don't know a lot... but one of my dear friends went to DC to appeal the decision. He ended up getting *I think* over 60% (up from 40?), which was enough for him and his family to get benefits and insurance for life. But aside from that, I don't know jack.

ETA: This is a worthless post.

We have a Veterans Service Officer who is helping with DJ's appeal.

The best advice I have is to find whomever is your VA liason in the county you are living in and have them help you with the paperwork.

DH is appealing his current rating to get it increased right now and we were told the appeals are so far backed up that it could take 2-5 years before we get a decision on that.

I have a rating also and it was increased when I went to the dr there for an exam. I didn't ask for it-it was done automatically. Maybe you just need to make an appointment and have another examination.

How long did it take to get you disability started? or even find out your rating?

just curious cause we just separated from the navy and are still wanting to hear back... apparently the navy database does not update daily so DH's DD214 has not post so everyone is at a stand still... VA disability, GI Bill, unemployment, Advance Pay for the GI bill. he was official out on Sept. 30 and are still waiting... ugh
