    Tricare question 2

    Advertisements
    Hi Everyone,
What do I need to do to get on DH's Tricare? Am I just on there if I'm enrolled in DEERS?

I have a CAC spouse ID card, do I need anything like an insurance card or just take this? It does say, "Medical: Yes" on it.

Just not sure what I need to do. Thx.

Once you are enrolled in DEERS you are automatically enrolled in tricare standard, you can change to prime by filling out the form and taking or sending it into tricare (there should be a tricare office on base) but you can stay with standard if you wish.

Thanks! What's the difference? Also, do I need a separate card, or just show military ID when I go to the dr?

tricare use to send out cards - mostly not so much anymore-
you will just need your ID card for dental and dr appts.

the best thing for info on the different types of tricare is to visit thier site for the most up to date information

Here you can see what plan is good for you.

And yes once you are on your husband DEERS you are automatically enrolled into tricare standard. To change plan you will need to go to their office on base.

The TRICARE Dental Program is a voluntary, premium-based dental insurance plan administered by United Concordia Companies.

    You can also enroll online.

ohhh I had no idea that once I was in deers I was automatically on standard. After I got my Id card I went over to tricare and enrolled there and the woman told me it was effective April 1 and gave me the tricare prime booklet. I wonder if this means I am covered under standard right now until April 1....hmmmm
