there are no "pre-existing conditions" when it comes to tricare. So you will just have to see you primary dr and get a referral for the endo and you are good to go.

You will be covered. You might have to enroll in the Exceptional Family Member Program to ensure that you are always somewhere where you can receive the medical care you need. But I'm not completely sure...maybe somebody else knows?

You should be fine! I've been diagnosed with Keratoconus since I was like 17. Tricare fully covers all my civilian Ophthalmologit visits and my contact and exams too.

    I'm on Tricare Prime too!

It will be covered. As a Type 1 Diabetic I see an Endo once a year and an Internal Medicine Specialist every three months. I have not once had to pay a copay to be seen, or even on medication except for my 9 dollar copay for my insulin pump in April of 2007. Tricare actually made my Internal Medicine Specialist my Primary Care Manager. So he takes care of all of the referrals I need in reference to my regular care, and Diabetes appointments. Once you sign up for Tricare, make sure you get signed up for Tricare Prime, and feel free to call the 1800 number and ask them anything you have any questions about. They are always the best way to get the correct information about coverage.

Yes, that is one really good thing about Tricare.

The only thing I wanted to add is that your endocrinologist may not be covered, but there should either be another one at the local military hospital or one they can refer you to. If you are due for any kind of appointments try to do them before you are married because it does take a month or two to get enrolled in prime and get in to see a doc to get the referral.

Be sure you are enrolled in EFMP so that the military knows you have special medical needs. That way the Army will take your needs into consideration when your DH comes up on orders, especially if he comes up for an overseas tour.

Exceptional Family Member Program- it's an administrative notation on the military member's record that can help in assigning duty stations.
