EFMP guarantees that if he needs special help you would go to a base that can offer it. It can keep you from getting overseas sometimes, but in the end any special care he would need you'd be able to have access to.

Also, if you are sent to a base that cannot provide services. Your DH can get in big trouble for not having them in EFMP. That is the whole point of the program. To make sure that every duty station you guys go to can provide proper care for who ever is EFM.

    Thanks for the input!
My son has been on EFM since 04. He started out as a Cat 5 (the highest) and is now at a 3. We have had no problems and I actually was bummed when they dropped him from a 4 to a 3. We lost priority for housing when they did that.

Also, even though it's "just" ADHD, there will always be the possibility that psychiatrist/behavior specialists will be in a certain area. My son is on it from when he was diagnosed with cancer in 04. In some places, I would wind up having to drive 5+ hours to the closest hosp/dr that takes tricare.

There's no real drawbacks aside from the overseas thing IMO, which said isn't a big deal... In the end they are trying to make it so you guys get the best resources possible which is a good thing.

DF has already said that we're enrolling Bex, and that he's surprised that her sperm donor, oops! I mean birth-father hasn't done it yet...

I was told that ADHD does not always quailfy you for efmp, all it does is make sure that you go where they have what you need, my sons on efmp because he has to see specialists. It also says that if you know your family member should be on it and isnt your hubby can get in trouble for not adding, not sure why maybe someone else knows
