I don't know what that is. We usually just get a general one and then specific ones if we know I'll need a specific one while he's gone.

My DF is going to get POA for me next week. I don't know what a durable one is though. Should he get that kind? What is the difference in them?

A durable power of attorney is effective even if the person becomes incapacitated.

For a POA to be durable, the POA must state that it either remains or becomes effective after one becomes incapacitated.

A nondurable POA ceases when one become incompetent or incapacitated. A person may act on your behalf under a nondurable POA, but only if you are competent, and it is used for reasons other than planning for incapacity.
