Df an I do not know how it works. He's wondering how we would get it once were married since were not going to live on base for the remaining 9ish months here.

    Sorry if this is confusing.

Do you mean BAH? (basic allowance for housing)
If the AD member is living off base, within the US, he is usually entitled to BAH. The amount he gets depends on the zip code of the base where he is stationed, (or soemtimes the city near the base), his rate/rank and whether he has dependents.
It is a tax free amount which will be added to his monthly pay.
Someone else may be able to fill in the blanks, but it would help knowing his rate and status. (Training, AD, reserves, etc).
If you want my opinion on your relationship or life issues, just ask Villanelle!

BAH is for those who live off base. I believe, one can either apply for housing on base or live in town and receive monthly BAH.

I believe you can check location-specific rates for 2008 here:

when you get married, get your marriage certificate asap, then go with your Dh so he can get you your ID. After go to DEERS to get your medical benefits rolling and have your DH take all that paperwork to finance.

also check this site for more info.

all he needs to do is take the marriage license to his finance office.

it will take 4-8 weeks for it to start.

it will be based on his duty station location unless he is oconus- TDY or at school.

you will not get seperation pay for living apart- but will get it when he deploys or goes to school for longer than 30 days even if you live apart.
