Shocked Need HELP with all the acronyms!!!!

    Advertisements
    To anyone that can help,
My husband and I just got married three weeks ago, and I am 7 1/2 months pregnant....I was having asthma problems this morning, and was trying to figure out if Tricare pays for urgent care, because I needed it, like, NOW. I read the enrollment brochure that was given to me, but couldn't figure out half of the acronyms they use. Is there a place where I can go. besides calling DH overseas, to figure them out? I am sure I was panicky that I couldn't breathe, and could play the guessing game if I were in the right mindset, but I even needs help with the day-to-day acronyms that everyone uses!
I just went to an urgent care out of the phone book, and got it taken care of, but I am not used to trying to read another language to get medical care! And I work in the medical field!!!

Any assistance or suggestions on who I can ask, maybe get a list (I know that sounds silly), of the day to day things people say, would be really helpful. Thanks!

Well first what acronyms are you wondering about. Secondly are you on Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard or Prime remote?
Do you have a doctor already?

    I will miss you SOS...
Please be wary of what you post remember OPSEC is not just another acronym.

they don't like urgent care according to the last tricare person I talked to, you have to get approval prior to going (this was for prime though)

I am on Tricare Standard right now, because I wanted to go to the same OB that I had been, but found out that they don't even take Tricare (though they told me they would-sigh!), so I have to change doctors. I am going to go Tricare Prime September 1st, but all this stuff is starting to overwhelm me, and then when I can't figure out what a PCM is, what ADFM (which I figured out this morning).

The day after we got married, I enrolled in DEERS, and then went down to the Tricare office right away, and was told that they enrolled me in Prime right away, but I didn't sign anything...was I just enrolled because DH is?

The websites for acronyms is helpful, thanks! I don't want to feel like a dummy calling DH all the time to figure out what people are saying to me!
