    Question POA

    Advertisements
I'm too lazy to dig for old threads. Can someone please dumb down the reasons to get one and in what circumstances?

    Thanks

a general is always good.. I have used it to get a new ID when he couldn't come with me. And to get myself on an account that he hadn't put me on ( bank account).
you just never know when you might need it. Getting tags for the car i have had to do that on my own so many times. Talk about bills with companies.

Df doesn't see the need for it, but from what ive read on here. It's a smart thing to do.

seriously that is not smart on his part. There is ALWAYS a need for it.
You can't register a car you aren't on if you don't have a POA, you can't get a loan from NMCRS without one. they won't even talk to you. If you lose your ID you can't get a new one if you don't have the right form or a POA. if he is deployed imagine the headache all this will cause you if you don't have a POA.

I keep a general whenever he'll be going away for even short underways, so I can handle all his business. That's about as generic as I can make it.

Mostly, I use them to make payments and handle problems at PSD (since they always happen). PSD is a specific POA though.

yup that is soo true i hate PSD. lol
Also specifics are good too, you need one to move HHG on your own, to get in our out of housing ( in some cases ) to do your taxes.

There are many different ones, sometimes a General is too broad and places won't accept it (No place is required to accept a PoA)

But I have a few myself. My friend Nate signed a PoA over to me so I can handle his PCS move. And he has a medical poa on me for medical decisions (long story)
