    How long for separation pay?

    Advertisements
I know he has to be gone for 30 days to earn separation pay, but how long does it usually take to kick in? He's been gone 24 days - do you think we'll see it on the mid-month for July? Or the 1st of August?

it all depends on how quickly the command gets the paperwork in to DFAS. i wouldnt count on it till August to be safe.

Rule of thumb, it will show up in your pay once he's been gone 45 days.. there should be a bit of back pay when it kicks in as well. That's how it's always worked with us.

Well, I'm what I am and I'm what I'm not
and I'm sure happy with what Iíve got
I live to love and laugh alot
    and thatís all I need

it kicks in at least 30 days..keep and eye on it ...if you do not see it after 45 days email your Ombudsman or squadron. I am waiting on it too.

sep pay is payed like this--

the pay will not be paid until after the 31st day- so if your 31st day falls on the 29th you will not see it until the 15th of the month- sep pay is paid only retroactively like pay and BAH. then you will see the next 15 days on the 1st and the balance on the 15th-

hth's.. oh and too add- most branches pay for full 30 days- and do not "pro-rate" but check with someone within your branch to find out how they do it.

Thanks ladies! I'm trying to work out the budget for the whole summer. It seems that no matter what I do, no matter how much I cut back, we are in the same place financially. Which really sucks. And with my port call visit coming up, I'm feeling a little uneasy.
