    Wow...my Grandpa was making nothing and he would have been in for....10 years in 1952!! I guess when you only have a wife you don't really need much, and the cost of living was a lot less!

    Things were alot cheaper back then too. In the late 60's my parents had 5 kids to feed and my dad only made 403 dollars. They didn't have cable, internet, cell phones, and gas wasn't over 4 dollars a gallon. They were fine and even managed to put some back each payday

    when my dad was in as an E-7 at over 16 years he made what me and DH made as E-4's living in housing. we were living out in town so that included BAH, times have changed a lot.
