This may be a dumb question...

    ...but here goes, anyway.

We are on a wait list for housing. When our number comes up, will they move us again, or will we need to pack and move our own stuff the 2 miles on to post?

    TIA.

Ok. DH said they won't since we didn't sign up for housing immediately when we got here, but he never bothered to check and I just hadn't called to ask yet.. Will that make a difference?

Thanks, Berk, you're always so helpful!

It wouldn't make a difference whether you signed up for housing immediately or not. At least, it didn't 5 years ago... Once your housing is available, they rent a moving company (lowest bidder ) set a date, and they show up, so you'd better make certain that you're around.

When we were in Guam we had to live off base at first because I didn't have command sponsorship when I first arrived. Once we were able to get into base housing we had to move everything ourselves

We had to move ourselves. But we went from old housing to new so that might be why.

    Now I'm more confused

We are more than ready, so I would jump for joy at the site of a moving truck! I hope you're right, Adam!

    Yep.

Sometimes you have to submit a request that says "Housing wasn't available when we got here, we are moving on post because our waitlist number is up, please move us because this is for the convenience of the government." (It's for their convenience because it's cheaper for you to live in post housing)

We had to submit the extra letter in Germany, it wasn't a big deal, just required for a paper trail.

Just ask your housing office and they should be able to tell you.

When we moved from off to on base, oh 8 yrs ago... we had to pay for the move. Hopefully things have changed since then.
