    Help Totally confused

    Advertisements
So we recently enrolled in Tricare Prime. DH is reserves but deployed.
So I get the cards in the mail and it states a Primary Care Manager, so I call to make doctor appts for the kids and its a local doctors office, not on base..
Im so confused. I thought if you are enrolled in Prime, you have to be seen on base??? Am I wrong?
Were only about 20 miles from many bases, so I know were not remote and all my paperwork states Tricare Prime.
So confused, probley call Tricare huh?

Sometimes the MTF is full, they give you a civilian provider instead, especially for activated reserve families. Take the civilian :

We have Prime but we have the option to be seen on or off post. We choose to be seen off because it is easier for us to get appts. and such. DH is the only one seen on post and that is because he has no choice. LOL.

Thanks ladies. I called Tricare and she stated I was one of the "lucky ones" to pick on base or off, of course I picked civilian, but our ped doesnt take Tricare, so I have to switch doctors anyways but at least its close.

if you're reserve and you aren't near a qualified base to seek medical care, they will refer you to a private clinic that is in the Tricare network. you'll still get the same medical attention as you would onbase.
