    Privatized Base Housing

    Advertisements
Is anyone here in housing that has already been privatized? How does it work? Do you pay the housing office the BAH when you get it? Is the rent the whole BAH amount? What about utilities. Do you pay gas, electricity and trash/water/sewer? Do you know if it is subsidized?

we lived in Whidbey's housing as it went private. Basically you are living in housing the only difference is where you complain and your BAH is on your LES. No it isn't subsidized so you pay all your BAH to them, you don't pay any of the utilities other than cable phone internet whatever you like..

Our housing here on base(Camp Lejeune) is PPV. It's really no different than how it was when we were in housing before PPV. The only difference is on dh's LES, it shows his BAH,and the PPV takes it out, so we never see the BAH when he gets paid. You don't have to pay for utilites and all that jazz.

San Diego's housing is PPV.. our entire BAH is taken by the management company, and in return we're given a house, all utilities are paid, and we get free roadside assistance on both our cars within 5 miles of our home.

Well, I'm what I am and I'm what I'm not
and I'm sure happy with what Iíve got
I live to love and laugh alot
    and thatís all I need

Okay, one more question. I've heard about a utility allowance and that people in PPV housing have to pay utilities but this allowance should cover it. But if you use too much it will be out of pocket, and if you don't use all of the allowance you get to pocket the difference. Anyone heard or experienced that? I found it mentioned at http://www.acq.osd.mil/housing/faqs.htm#21a under the tenant FAQs.

they have to do a base line first, of what your average usage is. When I was in housing it was too new to even think about that they had only been private for a few months. You can always call where you are moving into to see what their policy is.
