    Halfway party?

    Advertisements
So I tried putting feelers out to see if people wanted to do a halfway party. As far as I know we only had 2 people interested. Now we have about 25-30 sailors on the deployment so I would say half for families. Would you still do something? Or just bypass and start prepping for the homecoming stuff.

I’ve never heard of a halfway party. If you want to do it, go for it! You don’t need half a deployment to prep for homecoming?

I know we don't need one to start the homecoming stuff, but it was more of a celebration thing that we are half way done. But not sure with maybe only 2 people other than myself if its worth it Thats all.

Just do something low key with those who are interested maybe? Dinner and drinks or a day trip with the kids if applicable?

I would organize a dinner/ drinks with those interested somewhere nice. We're planning a cook out for ours already and the ship hasn't even left yet.

I’d still do something with those who are interested. Doesn’t need to be anything big. I know when DF was deployed, a lot of the spouses went back home to be with family during the deployment so a lot of people weren’t even around for anything.

You should totally do it. For my husband's last deployment we did an adults only halfway party by going on a drinks and appetizers cruise around the bay in San Diego and it was so fun. Great way to bond with the other spouses too.
