Survey for Military Significant Others
Passing along an email request:
Hello! I am NOT an anti-military service member. I am actually the opposite. I am a
third generation Military Service Member.
When my schooling is complete, I will be
working with Military Service Members and their Significant Others. My name is
Rabecca and I am a doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology at Spalding University
in Louisville, KY.
I would like to thank everyone that assisted in my pilot study
exploring the experiences of Significant Others (spouses/partners) of our Military
Service Members (MSM) and I hope that you will participate in my dissertation study
as well. There was such an overwhelming response from “other” types of Significant
Others (parents, cousins, friends, children, etc.), that I decided to expand my
dissertation to include all Significant Others of MSM.
It is hard to comprehend the sacrifices our MSMs make for our country and the world.
The only people that may fully understand would be their Significant Other/family of
that MSM. People, foreign and domestic, benefit from these sacrifices, but it is our
MSM, their Significant Others/families that most ultimately pay the price.
There are many different casualties of war, some are more obvious than others, but
they all are casualties still the same.
Our MSM are concerned about the welfare of
their Significant Others/families and want them to have adequate support in place
for them. This support can best be provided when there is sufficient research that
shows a need. Our MSM have services and support to help them throughout their career
and deployment.
Although these services need improvement, it is a start.
This survey speaks to is the experiences of Significant Others/families of MSM. This
survey is completely confidential and there is no way to identify the participants.
The results from this survey will be used for a dissertation focusing on experiences
of Significant Others of MSM.
Please help make sure that our MSM, their Significant Others/families have the
support and services that they need and deserve. Let us not forget out MSM, their
Significant Others/families and the sacrifices they endure for a better world!
Please post this on your group forum to allow members to participate if they would
alike.
