Baghdad Pups
Operation Bagdad Pups is a military charity that tries to send dogs (and a few cats!) that deployed soldiers have befriended back to the States so they can be reunited when the soldier returns home. Since it against military regulations for soldiers to have a pet while deployed, Bagdad Pups has run into a lot of brick walls, but also has many great success stories.
The website is worth checking out, and donations of kennels, food, money, and airline/FF miles are in great demand. Baghdad Pups Website

OMG I love this!!!!
Animals are such wonderful companions and bring so much join. We picked up a Europup on my last deployment and took her home with us (on the ship). It was such a big moral deal. When, I was in Iraq we starting feeding this one cat and then were eventually told to leave it alone because of the "NO PET" rule. Once, they did that our spirits felt like they had been trampled on and kicked. This is truly awesome!!!
