Not even the Army can shatter my spirit.

I hope this is the right place to put this info. Mods, of course, feel free to move this if you need to.
I found information about Operation: A Bit of Home (OABOH) while reading an article on myarmylifetoo. I thought some of you ladies and gents would enjoy a virtually cost-free way to help our troops in Iraq. Here is a website with all of the info: OABOH Basically, the USO and OABOH are looking to gather 10,000 of our unwanted/no-longer-needed DVDs (no VHS please) so that they can build lending libraries for troops in Iraq. So far, they've built one, but they are looking to build 2-3 more. Thanks in large part to Orange County, California, they have reached 35% of this 10,000 DVD goal. So, if you want to help, gather up your unwanted DVDs, involve your friends and family too, and send one large flat rate box to the address below in Iraq. Of course you can't forget your customs form and if you get enough DVDs, you can use the "America Supports You" large flat-rate APO/FPO box that sends for only $10.95. If you have only a few DVDs, take them to your post office and ask about the media rate. It shouldn't be expensive to send them using that rate. Please no pornographic or x-rated DVDs, no VHS tapes, no kids DVDs (you can send these to USO though for children to get from their local base library... USO Website). And if you happen to have a player you want to send for the guys and gals to be able to borrow from the library, they'll take those as well. Just a great and inexpensive way to help all of the service members out because everyone over there needs our help and not just our own SOs. Thanks for reading ladies! ![]() Oh, here's the address: R&R Supervisor US Military Installation Freedom Rest APO AE 09316 **Be sure to write "Operation: A Bit of Home" on the box so they can better direct the package to the project leaders in Iraq.** |

Also, I have seen a dropbox at our local blockbuster for DVDs for troops in Iraq. I'm betting it's for the same Operation. So, ladies, go and check your local blockbuster and ask them if they are participating and where you can drop your DVDs off at. That way you wont have to pay for ANY postage!

Not US
Kat,
The blockbuster drop boxes are to send DVD's to individual Soldiers and Marines. That is not us, but anything that gets DVD's over there is great. Ours are put in a Library for all troops to use. Ken Founder Operation: A Bit of home www.operationabitofhome.com |
