Sacrifice for the Troops
I was talking to a Vets wife today after work and she brought up that there are many people that would love to do something for the troops but do not have the money to donate, make a package and ect.
Would rather have a person donate at least 2 hours rather then Donating Money but it is understood that some have busy lives and are unable to do that. Here is the idea: Basis: One week out of each month (the person chooses a day within that week) to do something for someone else. Ideas for helping another person would be: Helping a Senior Citizen, Cooking Dinner for someone that is Ill, Visiting a Hospital or Retirement Home, Helping a single mother... Anything a person can think of. If the person doesn't have the time then they can donate to a Charity of their choosing for the troops or whatever they choose instead of donating time. Purpose: To show that we as Americans still think of their struggles and in recognition of their troubles we are taking a day out of our lives each month to help a person in reminder of the Troops. They risk their lives everyday fighting for our freedom, what other way better then to show our support by showing our strength in helping other's in our areas? As Wives, Girlfriends and Fiancees we know what they go threw; we see it first hand to an extent. So who better to get POV's from then others like me? Please keep in mind that this idea will not have any money exchanging hands AT ALL. If a person donates they choose who they donate to and then can tell everyone else that is participating. A huge reminder for this idea is that one person's sacrifice does not have to equal anothers. Each person gives what they can and that is all that is asked. It is not about what you do/give but rather where it comes from; the heart. --- So any suggestions, idea's or views would be helpful. Want to try and get Non-Military Families involved also.

Not even the Army can shatter my spirit.

That's a great idea! I'm actually a lifetime Girl Scout...so I am always helping my old Girl Scout leader with her new troops do things like this. Also, I'm going to go to some of my friends who are teachers and ask if they can incorporate something to Support our Troops as a craft into their lesson plan. That way, I can gather their crafts and send them to my SOs company. I know that's military support...buts it a way of getting non-military involved in supporting and raising awareness.
