I over think everything its a blessing and a curse. Haha My DB has kept a journal for years and he only lets me read parts of it. My DB is super private about his journal but its something he has been writing in since like the 4th grade. I've noticed the letters I write have taken on a journal like quality because I tell him just about everything that happens during my days. The letters are slow but I try to send one everyday or at least every other day so he gets one hopefully just as often as I send them. I will take letters, 3am phone calls, email, any form of contact that tells me he is ok. We lucked out and he usually has phone service or access to the internet if he goes to the coffee shop on base but everywhere is different.

Its a possibility that he won't have internet, letters are the slowest but my DB really loves them. He says it has something to do with having the letter I wrote in his hand rather than an email. I send him random cards quite often too ( I work at the local Hallmark so I get a nice discount on cards lol). I always over think things and my DB is one of the few who can recognize when I'm over thinking something and now he's not here to tell me to stop. This website is making it a lot easier for me and the deployment may be a struggle but it will make your relationship a lot stronger (at least thats what I have been told).

Yea, I live in Texas lol deployment isn't easy.... I cried like a five year old when we left DB at the airport but you get use to it. The DB and I have a very open relationship and talk about everything with each other. Phone calls and emails mean everything and you have to tell yourself that he was trained to do his job and everything will be fine. I think being anxious and nervous is normal. The way I handled pre-deployment time was I spent a ton of time with him and I helped him prepare to leave but since y'all are already doing the long distance thing is I would talk to him and take advantage of the easy communication in the US. When my DB left of europe the worst part I think is not having that easy access to communication with him. I cannot just wake p and text DB anymore . I try to stay really busy and focus on myself. I go to school full time and work. Then any spare time I have I talk to the DB (if possible) or I read, do my nails ( I change my polish color like 5 times a week lol), hangout with friends, apply to graduate school or something. The best way to pass time is to stay busy, I have found, because the deployment gets to me the most late at night just before I got to bed and have nothing else to do.
  6. I'm new to the whole deployment and military relationship thing. My boyfriend is still in the states as of now but, in December he gets deployed for 9 months. So, I'm really nervous about it and my emotions are on edge but, I don't say anything to him because I know I need to be strong for him and keep him in the right mind-set. He's on base in Texas and I live in NC, it's a struggle but, I know that I'll love him no matter where he is. What are some advice you ladies have for someone new to this lifestyle?
