How I Met My Military Significant Other:
Through Yeah that's right, get all the giggles out now. Lame I know but I met lots of nice guys through that site while I was in Pensacola. Anyhow, he sent me a message through and we had several things in common so we decided to meet up. I picked him up one night from a Waffle House and the plan was to watch movies at my apartment. That didn't happen because my roommate had her parents over that weekend. Sitting around my apartment with some strange guy and her parents might have been a bit awkward. So instead we ate at Dodge's Chicken and Gas (no joke, only in the south right?) and then hung out at Wal-Mart because it was the only place open at that time of night. After such an absolutely pathetic date I figured I'd never hear from the guy again.

Oh how wrong I was. He messages me again through MSN and says that he wants to go out again, hopefully this time to watch movies like originally planned. And after that the guy wouldn't quit messaging/calling me. I just couldn't get rid of the guy! That hadn't happened before, the guy obviously had something wrong with him if he wanted to hang out with me so much. But this I figured could work to my advantage. So here we are, married since Dec. 31, 2002 and he still hasn't run screaming.
About Me:
I'm cool and my feet smell like roses.

I have two kids, two dogs and two cats. My daughter is Madison, my son is Hayden... Not sure about adding any more. You can see how old they are in my signature :P Our dog is a Boxer and named Apollo. The cat is a pain in the ass and his name is Smeagol.

Once upon a time I ran track (everything from the 100m to the 800m), and cross country. I used to show horses too and won a World Championship and two reserves once at the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration. I can play the clarinet and did through college.

Now I am a SAHM even though I'm not much of a domestic, I just try to find things to do to get the kids and me out of the house. I've started running again and am training for 5k races (maybe some 10ks?). I've also been roped into being on the PTA board and have no clue what I'm doing really.

I'm on the computer probably too often! I play World of Warcraft, Sims2 and a few other computer games as well as Gears of War, Guitar Hero II/III, Rock Band and various other games on the Xbox360. Because I'm so nerdy and boyish I think sometimes I have trouble connecting with other females.

I can be incredibly weird at times but I think that makes me incredibly normal. I will tell you what though, getting back into running has really helped me to feel better about myself. I feel more LIKE myself now. Don't know if it's just the running or maybe some of it is moving away from Hawaii, but I am finally feeling again like I can be myself!
About Us:
We're weird. We watch a lot of movies and play games together. Sometimes I wish there was more romance there but we enjoy each other's company. Well, at least most of the time we do.

He is really the one person that I feel I can say anything to even if it's about him. We're open and honest with each other, we don't get jealous. Some people would probably say we are mean to each other but that's just the way we joke around.

Sometimes I think we are dysfunctional but it seems to work out :P
Interests & Hobbies:
horses/pets, sports, track/running, karate, games, movies, music, internet stuffs, etc.
Dream Sheet:
Back to Oregon :P We are done after these orders.
I love music and I'm not too picky. I love oldies, classical, all types of rock (soft, classic, alternative, some hard), metal, new metal, some techno, etc. etc.
I like something with melody and harmony and a good guitar line.
LOST, Battlestar Galactica, Jeopardy, Ghost Hunters, South Park, Family Guy. I really don't watch TV on a regular basis. Most of these shows we DVR and I watch later. I also watch anime.
Willow, Star Wars, LOTR, The Last Starfighter, Krull, Disney movies, Idiocracy, Tron, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Mallrats, Sean of the Dead, Grandma's Boy, Hot Fuzz, 300, Transformers. That's an example of movies I love. I'm pretty easily entertained
I love sci-fi and fantasy books. My favorite is The Hobbit and LOTR, and of course the rest of Tolkien's works. Terry Brooks is another favorite author of mine, as is Stephen King. I'll read most anything though.

I would just like to say that the PPV management company here in Seaside/Monterey sucks.

Unless of course you are the single parent of one child who gets a 4 bedroom house, then I suppose it doesn't suck for you or if you are the couple with no kids who gets a 3 room.

But to all the senior enlisted people who get stuck in old housing infested with mold while all the junior enlisted people get the majority of the newer housing well... yeah it sucks. Especially when

Hard Times

by mara_jade81 on 05-17-2008 at 04:56 PM
One of the most difficult times in my life...

I can't really say as I've had that much of a difficult life. Sure I had a younger sibling die but I wasn't quite four years old at the time and so I really don't think I can count that really as a difficult time since I was so young. It was difficult as far as my child's brain understanding/processing it all but mainly the difficulty was my parents'.

So my most difficult time was when I moved from Oregon to Florida for

Well, I figured I should write something here because it is here to use but I typically write entries at LiveJournal.

So if anyone is interested in reading about my mundane life they can check me out there by clicking on this fun url:

I'm thinking though I might participate in this blog topic of the day even though I either forget to write enough in the blog already or spend too much time writing in it. Goes in spurts.
