Hi! Thank you so much for the warm welcome! The long distance is definitely hard sometimes but it teaches you a lot about patience...I think the fact that we've been long distance our entire relationship, we have a little practice in preparation for deployment. How often do you get to see your DB? Wow, 2nd deployment! I'm sure you are full of good advice and experience! I saw on your profile that you met your DB online as well...people think I'm crazy meeting my DB online and having a long distance relationship, but I think it was absolutely perfect. It's crazy looking back on that time in our lives and seeing how far we've come!

I would be up for meeting up, I live in Leicester, but I work in London. As our stories are similar would be fab to get to know someone who kind of understands.

Hi Just saw this! We are in the Kaiserslautern area - near Ramstein, Vogelweh etc Where is your boyfriend? We met in 2004 (the end of) and dated the whole time he was in England. I was living in London at the time (miss that place!!) and moved up to live with him at the beginning of 2006. He then moved back to the States at the end of that year and we submitted the fiancee visa stuff then I got my visa in May 2007 and we had to get married within 90 days of arrival into the States ... so we dated for about 2 1/2 years I guess, although we planned to get married after 2 years Where in London are you?

It makes a lot of sense. We actually haven't been officially dating very long at all. Only around 7 months, we were just friends before that. And he's been gone for 5 of those 7 months, so our relationship was put to the test right away. This is my first deployment, his too so neither of us had any idea what to expect. We've been lucky enough to be able to talk pretty much every day, if we wouldn't have I know it would have been even harder. But the two last weeks before he left, especially his pre-deployment leave was probably the most nerv wrecking of my life. I actually found myself relieved after we said goodbye, cause then I could finally relax for a little.. and just start counting down for this to be over.

How about you and your SO, what's your story? What branch is he in?
