- How I Met My Military Significant Other:
- mine and DB's situation isn't common by any means. i moved from one area of CO to another and decided i was going to browse around on myspace to see if i could meet some new friends. i came across his page and couldnt help myself. i wrote to him and told him that i didn't know why, but i felt like i had to get to know him. before i knew it, we were writing every day. i got to know this amazing man which such a love and passion for life and for God that i felt more alive simply by reading the words that he wrote. we began texting all day every day & talking for hours on the phone. i didnt know when i wrote him the first time that he was in georgia. but i couldn't allow that to keep me from getting to know him more and more. at first, attraction besides friendship wasn't my main goal. however, a few days before he deployed to afghanistan i finally gave up. i said a prayer and told God that i could not continue looking for myself. that i didn't want to date anyone until He showed me my husband and that i didn't want to stand there on my wedding day saying that i gave a little piece of myself to this guy and so & so...oh and that guy too...but you can have what's left. the day he left, i felt so much more upset than i thought i would be. my brother is in the army. i had gone through two deployments already. one to iraq & one to afghanistan so this was nothing new to me. but something ached that i didnt know i had in me. the day after he deployed, i was driving around and i pulled over to pray for him. it was then that God told me "wait for him." he called me as soon as he got to his final base in afghanistan & he told me that God had layed it on his heart to ask me if i'd wait for him. so here i am. waiting not for my knight in shining armor but my love in combat boots and camo.
