Many of you know that I'll be attending this "pot luck" that my Db's company is having on Friday. Db asked what I will be making, and I came to a conclusion that I'm going to make something simple, yet so YUMMY! By reading the heading of this thread, you guessed it, my homemade MASH! I'm going to share with you guys my mash, and if you want to, you can send me your recipe! It's going to be fun comparing mine with you all's Mash.
I start with how ever many potatoes (usually 5 medium potatoes) Instead of boiling them with water, I use the whole carton of chicken broth (brings out the flovor, IMO) Put the broth and the potatoes in a medium pan. Set it to boil (or till the potatoes are tender.) When they are done, you pour the broth in a big enough bowl. You may leave the potatoes where they are. Start mashing them, when they look dry, pour in about a cup of broth. Add 1/2 cream cheese (regular small size) and a table spoon butter. mash that. The creamier, richer taste, you need to add more of each of the ingredients (broth, butter, cream cheese) add salt and pepper for taste. That's it. And oh yes, ENJOY! It's my Db's favorite. He likes mine better than his

I also do broth in mine too. I don't make mine too creamy, I like the little chunks in there. I add a little butter, ground pepper, and sour cream to mine.

I call up my dad and ask him if he wants to make dinner and then asked for mashed potatoes
![]() He uses butter, cheese, seasonings, leaves some skin on and I think cream but not positive. My step-mom made them once with cream cheese and they were good!

I boil mine in water, drain them, mash the ever living crap out of them, add butter, mash some more, add milk, mash some more. Sometimes I'll add ranch seasoning to them or sour cream, bacon, cheese and chives.

Yummy. I never thought about boiling them in broth.
I have to make mine the fattening way with lots of milk, butter, and cheese. That's how DH likes it. When I balloon up to 200lbs he'll only have himself to blame. lol!! |

I use the broth but I use whipping cream, garlic, lemon pepper, seasoned salt and loads of butter in mine. Like... at least a stick.
