    Dealbreakers.

    Advertisements
What are your dealbreakers in a partner? Something you would reject someone over that isn't necessarily a personality characteristic. If you're married or in a relationship, think back to the olden days of dating!

For me, at my age, full time custody of a child would be a dealbreaker. I would be okay with dating a parent if the child wasn't regularly home. I'm just no where near ready to be a parent (may never be).

Also, getting married quickly. If I was dating someone who wanted to get married after less than 6 months of dating I would dump them and never look back. If they wanted to in less than two years of dating I would be very very reluctant to continue.

    What about you?

ETA: Just kidding, there's already a recent thread about this. Fail.

Drugs, physical abuse, cheating, and past history. (I wouldn't date a registered sex offender)

There's about 55678 recent threads on this.

Whoops. I didn't see any recent ones. Now I'm tempted to be a deleter.

Nothing is set in stone for me as far as deal breakers. The only deal breakers for me might be checking out of our relationship, my husband saying he is gay and abuse of a child--sexual, emotional, and physical.

Depending on the situation and our current circumstance, I would try my hardest to forgive cheating, I would want to work through addictions if he wanted to work on them and I would also do my damnedest to work through, but remove myself temporarily, of an abusive situation.

Meh, don't worry about it. I haven't seen a recent thread on this and I'm sure others haven't either. I searched deal breakers and nothing came up that I would consider recent.

I don't think there have been any recent threads on it ... although it is a common topic it hasn't come up in a while.

Anyway, mine are children from a previous relationship, any history of cheating, the big obvious ones like being abusive etc. I can't think of anymore right off the top of my head but it's been a while. I might update later!

Life for me is way to situational, I can't think of anything that would be "well he is/does so therefore I am not bothering to get to know him"

Abuse Beyond that I really can't think of anything that would be a major deal breaker, besides maybe unemployment/homelessness. I'm not looking to support someone.

But anything else, life situations, kids, etc. not a big deal to me. And definitely not quick marriage, obviously. Married my husband after only 2-3 months. Going on two years now and I love him more than ever

    Drugs (including 420)
Abuse of any sort (alcohol, physical assault, emotional, gambling, blah blah blah)
    Heavy criminal rap sheet
Extremist (religious, political, blah blah blah)
And call it shallow if you want, but somebody who doesn't take care of themselves physically
    I've been known as
    "The Enforcer" and NavyHeart

If MF and I were to break up, my dealbreakers would be:

    Tobacco use/drug use
    Having kids
    Having been previously married
Any arrests/convictions for a sexual crime
No job/no ambitious job (hey call me shallow but its not. I have a high career drive and I dont think I would mentally be attracted to someone without a power type job)
A man who didnt go to college (for the same type of reason as above)
A man that wanted me to stay home
A man who didnt satisfy me sexually
Someone who is deemed (by me obvi) as 'too religious'

Ummm, there are probably a lot more, but I have to go to work now. It sounds like I am being super picky...and I am. If I am gonna be with someone forever, I know what I want, and I want that. I wont settle for people less than a wonderful match for me.
