    Why do people stay...

    Advertisements
in relationships that aren't, for a lack of better words "healthy"? I've just seen so many people put up with so much crap (physically, mentally, infedelity, etc.) from their SO's because they "love them" or "things aren't always like this". Why put up with the behavior? Why stay with someone who repeatedly shows you that they don't respect you? There are too many people in this world, to let someone treat you like crap because you love them!!!!

It's impossible to judge without ever being in the situation.

A lot of times its because these people get so beat down they don't think anyone else will want them. Its not true, but thats what they believe. Or because of a child in common and they want "whats best" for the child. Or they "can't afford to go anywhere else." Or because "I love them and they are working on it. They can change." Those are just a few of the answers I've gotten from people.

until your in that persons situation you'll never understand what they are going through..I assume it's hard to let go if you dont have the will power to do it yet..My friend is going through a situation like this, all i can tell her is that she can only put up with so much and sooner or later she'll be done....I think its a process.

I totally agree with all of the above. It just breaks my heart. One of my close friends recently started seeing a guy and I asked her why she was with him? and she said, "well he might not be what I really want but he doesn't hit me like X used to." It just broke my heart. I want her to be happy, but I want her to be happy with someone who is everything she has hoped for.

There are many different reasons for different people. In my case, my ex husband and I were together 23 years, and it's just not as easy to say, ok, enough is enough and walk away. It IS a process, and no one knows what I went through with him, my children, or my family to have had me stay for so long in a bad situation.

Don't judge others, you do not know what they have been through or are going through..

I'm really just trying to understand where other people are coming from, thank you for your insight.
