    Question Fundamentals of a relationship

    Advertisements
What do you think are the most important fundamentals of a relationship? What are the building blocks for a lasting and loving partnership?

Obviously trust and honesty, but what else? What makes it work, what makes it stick?

    RESPECT.

If you don't respect each other then there IS NO love and NO trust and NO honesty.

    1. Trust
    2. Honesty
    3. Respect
    4. Communication
    5. Acceptance

I think the order depends on the situation and the challenges being faced.

A good sense of humor and the ability to laugh with and at each other.
Flexibility of schedule and of mind. Not attempting to always be in control of each other.
The ability to talk things through calmly and rationally and to share ideas and emotions at will.
    PASSION.
The shared ability to make each other smile or laugh with just a look or a few words.

There are more, but I think these are my top five.

Besides trust and honesty... open communication and willingness to compromise are key.

The fundamentals to my relationship with my husband are:

    Trust
    Chemistry
    Truth
    Communication
    Humor
    Support
    Respect
    Friendship
    and
    Love

I say our relationship, because I understand that each relationship is different. No one can know what is necessary to make the relationship work, except for the two people involved.
    IMO of course.
