birthday/anniversary????? - Long Distance Love

Okay, so i'm kind of upset... I was supposed to go up to see DB on the 16th of December. His birthday/our 2 year anniversary are on the 17th. We've been planning on doing this for a long time, and we would talk about all the things we were going to do when I went there. So I've been pretty excited about it, it gets me through the day. Well, yesterday he tells me out of nowhere, after we had gotten through talking about it again "hey, about that, I don't think we can do that, I don't have any money, and I don't know if I can save up". I was devestated. I told him that I have money, and they're running a special for $25 tickets on Southwestern. I would eat peanut butter and bread if I had to. But he doesn't seem to be budging, he doesn't want me to spend my money on this. And I know that has a lot to do with his pride. But there comes a point where you just need to swallow it and realize which is more important. I'm just frustrated. We would finally be able to have time with just us, not have to worry about his family or mine, and celebrate two great things together....i love him so much, but i wish he would let me do this...

Men do have their pride and I know because df makes a big deal of it. We have been together going on 8 years and have known eachother for 13 years. And I make more then he does and even when he was pinching pennies and really having a hard time finacially he would not budge and just ask for some money. Until a year ago when the student loan people were coming after him and he wouldnt tell me why he was so upset. Four hours later I finally got it out of him. And I had to beg him and tell him it was a birthday present so I could give him the money. *he has no problem asking for money now* Sometimes hon even if its hard and it hurts you just have to let a man be a man. Sometimes its all they know.

yeah, you're right, and i think i am just going to have to do that. i wish guys didn't have to be so gosh darn prideful though haha. it would make life so much easier. it's kind of sweet though, that they want to be everything to us though. it definitely shows that they care, just in their own funny way.

Yeah I wish the weren't either it can at times be very annoying. But yeah it is sweet. They want to be the ones taking care of us not the other way around. Yes it does show they care. Thats why sometimes you just have to let things go.
