The "Spark" - Long Distance Love

How do you ladies keep the spark there when you can't see them for such a long time? I'm so jealous of my friends who get to see their boyfriends every day and get to experience that "spark" or twinge in the pit of your stomach when you see your SO. It's hard to get that over the phone once you kind of get into a regular, everyday grind. Me and DB know when to expect calls from each other, pretty much text each other all day, and I feel like we've sort of fallen into a rut.

So, ladies, I need your advice. What do you and your SO do to keep that spark there?!

ETA: We were together over a year before he left and were really close. Then we went to strictly letters where we could be extremely open with each other. Now we're just long distance, where we're still open with each other but aren't as lovey dovey sappy as we were in our letters haha

Do you have a webcam? If so, DB and I get on Skype a lot to switch things up because that way we can see eachother, and it makes things so much better.

Make it sappy again!!!

My DH loves acting all lovey dovey even if it is just in emails. Just go the extra mile to make him feel special and I'm sure that he will go along with it and act the same.

DF and I webcam and try to keep the "spark" up through that. But I know what you mean. Sometimes it feels like just part of your daily schedule. I hope that when I visit DF in December it will help spark the "spark"

We laugh a lot. We have movie dates where we watch the same movie and if we can't have a phone call, we IM during it. DB is an amazing writer, so much better than me, and we have "story dates". He'll write me a story about us going out to a dinner and a movie, or just staying in and hanging out.
During my day, if I'm running around, he'll write me a story about how it'd go if he were here when I came home. It lets us express how much we miss each other, but it also gives us a whole other world where we're together and just doing normal things like everyone else can with their SO.
Haha that sounds kind've lame, but it works for us and I love it.

I agree with everyone else about webcam dates! Also, I dunno why he does this but I love it. We will be webcamming and talking about non-romantic stuff, and he will send me an IM while I am talking that says "You look beautiful" or "I love you" etc... For some reason it feels better when he says it that way than if he just said it over webcam.

Also we send pics of whatever we are doing that day through texts, which really helps to make you feel involved in each others lives.

We also talk a lot about the future, and sometimes the past, like when we met and stuff.

I agree with the advice already given; find something that works for you two to change it up. I know it is easier to express the sappy stuff in writing. You can also write and mail him love letters; in addition to phone calls. He may take the cue

my db makes my heart race by just telling me how much he loves me. His big thing is when he makes me happy he says, which, in turn makes my heart race even more

Skype helps a lot because well, there is a lot more when you can see each other

We also email each other news articles, funny pictures, videos, etc., once in a while. I like letting him know when I think about him at random points in the day.
