Green tips for the day... 1/8
Think you don't have time to recycle or be green? Think again! It will take less than 10 minutes to do any of these and not only are they good for the environment, they save you money too!
1. Before you throw out those tattered beat up old shirts, save them and cut them up. They make great washable rags that will save a tree and save you a buck too! 2. Wash your clothes in cold water unless they are very stained. You'll save 80-85% of the energy used when washing in hot water! 3. Only run your dishwasher and your washer when they are full. This will save water AND save energy, meaning both lower water and electricity bills as well as using less detergent!. 4. Wrap your water heater in an insulating jacket. You can also turn your water heater down to 120. This will take less energy and also less chance that little Timmy will scald himself! 5. Cooking something small? Use your toaster oven instead of your regular oven. It uses 1/3 to 1/2 of much energy as the regular oven: again, saving you $ on your electricity bill. |

I've washed clothes in cold water since I was a kid... and I do most of the other things too.. We're only semi "green" though.
