I'm looking to go to school at either the University of Texas at Houson or stay where I'm at at the University of South Florida. I'm majoring in public health and I'm planning on getting a master's in it.

I've never really been into the fun and frolic stuff. I tried it my first year and now I just want to get out and be done.

    What do you do?

I have been a teacher for 22 years.

I had my own classroom for the first 4 years and taught English and social studies to junior high kids. Then I did substitute teaching, home instruction and tutoring when my own kids were babies, then I home schooled my own kids for 10 years. Now they are all in public school, and I am back to substitute teaching.

What type of job do you hope to get when you are done with your degree?

Wow! You must love it, if you've been doing it for so long. Do you hope to get a permanent position soon?

When I finish, I really want to work for the CDC as a field epidemiologist or something with the CDC that has to do with infectious diseases. I'm still working that out.

What made you decide to home school?

I do love teaching. I think sometimes you are just designed for a certain profession. I have never been able to get too far away from teaching. I have even been a Sunday school teacher a time or two.

I home schooled my kids because I have issues with what my profession has become. With all the government involvement we have gotten pretty far away from actually teaching kids to learn. I see it every day when i go to work. So I did it because I thought i could do it better than the government and I must have been right. 3/4 of my kids are high honor or honor roll every quarter. The other has some issues that she struggles with so she does the best she can. One of my twins is top 10 in her class. My oldest will graduate at the end of June and then I begin my life as a Navy mom. So I have an army man and a Navy son.

Your career path sounds very interesting. My oldest daughter likes that type of thing. She is still trying to decide what she is going to do when she graduates but that isn't for 2 years yet.

Have you always lived in FL?

You definitely have a interesting viewpoint on the subject. I don't really agree with the way they do things in public school, but I don't have the patients to home school my future kids. Hopefully I'll be able to put them in a private school.

on the graduation, that's an exciting time. Navy huh? You'll have all sorts of military connections.

Yep, I've lived here my whole life. I can't wait to move. It must be really hard for you to live across the country from your DH. Do you know how long it will be like that?
